A 13-year-old has been arrested in connection with multiple auto thefts and burglaries that occurred over the past week, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
The juvenile was taken into custody Thursday evening after a tip led officers to his location, OPD said in a release.
Police responded March 20 to a stolen vehicle report in the 3000 block of Daviess Street, authorities said. Five days later, on March 25, officers investigated another stolen vehicle in the 2400 block of O’Bryan Boulevard. That vehicle was linked to a burglary the same day at Super Smoke Tobacco and Vape Shop on Mount Moriah Avenue, OPD said.
Later that day, a third vehicle was reported stolen in the 1100 block of Hickman Avenue. In the early morning hours of March 26, the juvenile allegedly attempted to break into Bullet’s Pawn Shop on East 18th Street, damaging the glass doors, according to the release from OPD. Minutes later, the suspect is accused of burglarizing the Super Smoke shop for a second time, police said.
The juvenile was already under a court order for prior offenses including first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree fleeing and evading police, third-degree burglary, auto theft, theft over $10,000, and first- and second-degree criminal mischief, along with multiple traffic offenses, according to OPD.
Detectives charged the juvenile Thursday night with three counts of auto theft, two counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, and one count of first-degree criminal mischief. He was transported to the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green.
