A cable maintenance project on the U.S. 231 William H. Natcher Bridge begins Monday and will result in lane restrictions at the Ohio River crossing for the next year.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials said that starting at 7 a.m. on March 24, the northbound side of the Natcher Bridge will be restricted to one northbound lane. Southbound traffic will be transitioned to the left lane of the northbound side of the bridge. This restriction will be in place from the 13.5 to 14.8 mile points.
That lane configuration is anticipated to last approximately 6 months, with both lanes shifting to the southbound side of the bridge in late summer or early fall. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by March 2026.
The Natcher Bridge is a cable-stay structure that opened in 2002, linking eastern Daviess County in Kentucky to southern Spencer County in Indiana. Approximately 8,400 vehicles cross the bridge daily, according to KYTC.
