A single-vehicle crash has shut down a portion of U.S. 431 near the Daviess-McLean County line, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Brad Youngman said the crash occurred in the 12,000 block of U.S. 431 when a southbound vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree. Two people were involved in the accident.
The driver was transported by medical helicopter to a Louisville hospital with serious injuries, while the passenger was taken by AMR to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
Deputies, along with the Utica Fire Department and Daviess County Fire Department, responded to the scene. The roadway remains closed in both directions and is expected to be shut down for approximately two more hours.
Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes.
