Daviess County beat Hancock County, while Owensboro took care of Ohio County. In other action, Trinity (Whitesville) fell to Edmonson County.
Daviess County 17, Hancock County 4
Recording 15 hits and 13 RBIs, the Panthers beat Hancock County 17-4. Brody Brubaker, Logan Mewes, Mason Russelburg, and John Rue each recorded two RBIs, while Sean Page finished 1-1 with an RBI and two walks. Parker Wilson started on the mound, throwing four shutout innings, while Rue allowed three runs over 1 2/3 innings. Ethan Vinson also came out of the bullpen, allowing one earned run over 1 1/3 innings.
For Hancock County, Dylan Mucker finished 2-2, while Carter Lyday, Grant Smith, and Jacob Shultz each recorded an RBI. Carson Clark started on the mound, allowing one earned run over four innings, while Smith, Hunter Greathouse, and Lyday all came on in relief.
Owensboro 11, Ohio County 2
Evan Hampton finished 3-5 with two RBIs and a homer to power the Red Devils to a 11-2 win over Ohio County. Ty Ashley and Cayden Ray combined for five RBIs, while Will Hume went 2-3 and scored three runs. The starting pitcher, Ray gave up two runs (both unearned) over six innings, with seven strikeouts, while Brady Benjamin closed out the game in the seventh.
“We took a while to get going, but we’re proud of our guys for battling through and staying positive on the offensive side,” Owensboro head coach Jake Fiorella said. “It always helps when you lead off a game with a home run and have an outing like our starting pitchers. We are happy to win any game, but we want to keep moving forward and growing together. Our guys need to stay ready as we face another strong challenge tomorrow.”
Edmonson County 12, (Trinity Whitesville) 1
A pair of Trinity fielding errors allowed the game to get out of hand early, falling to Edmonson County 12-1. Grant Howard had the Raiders lone hit, while Connor Hatfield walked and stole two bases. On the mound, Rylan Cecil allowed five earned runs across three innings, striking out three. Kayin Howard came on in relief, allowing four earned runs in 1 1/3 innings, while striking out one.
