Authorities say that issues with Verizon customers dialing 911 have been fixed.

The Owensboro Police Department and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office both issued statements Sunday morning that Verizon was experiencing issues causing the 911 feature not to work for the phone carrier’s customers.

“This is on Verizon Communications’ end and not with Central Dispatch,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a public statement. “This only affects Verizon cell phone users.”

DCSO and OPD officials both said Verizon confirmed the issues had been fixed.

If a caller is unable to dial 911 during an emergency, they can instead call 270-687-8888 and press option 4 to reach Central Dispatch.
