After advancing to the playoffs of the Sothern Youth Travel Hockey League 12U A2 Year End Tournament, the Owensboro Rampage fell short in the semi-finals. In a hard-fought match, they lost to the eventual champions Columbus JR. Cottonmouths 9-4.

In the other semi-final game, the Birmingham Bulls beat Atlanta Fire 6-1 before losing to the Cottonmouths 5-3 in the finals. In the consolation game, the Nashville Preds Select narrowly beat the Atlanta Ice Bandits 3-2.

“Overall they’ve came a very long way from the start of the season,” Owensboro Rampage head coach Mile Aldrich said.  “We have one of the best Owensboro has to offer on our team in Carson Kippenbrock. He is the heart of the team. The kid is amazing and all the others follow his lead and he’s also our captain.  This is one thing I don’t just give a player as there’s a lot of meaning and responsibility that comes with this and he has earned it. Our kids did great, but we competed against a team that was better than us and that happens from time to time.   I have a great bunch of kids, and they did awesome.”
