The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is hiring for various seasonal and part-time positions, offering job opportunities for individuals as young as 15.

With approximately 150 intermittent employees working across city parks and facilities each year, officials expect to fill about one-third of those roles for the upcoming season.

Positions are available at multiple locations, including the Edge Ice Center, Jack C. Fisher Park Complex, Combest and Cravens pools, the city’s golf courses, and Smothers Park. The department also hires for its summer day camp programs, providing opportunities for those interested in working with children.

“These jobs provide valuable hands-on experience, whether it’s a first job or a stepping stone to something bigger,” said Brittni Klotzback with the parks department. “We focus on training, teaching responsibility, and creating a positive work environment.”

Hourly wages vary by position, with roles ranging from lifeguards and recreation facility workers to pool managers and camp supervisors. Most positions require applicants to be at least 16 or 18 years old, though some, such as lifeguard and camp assistant counselor roles, are open to those as young as 15.

The first round of interviews is underway. The city will continue accepting applications until all positions are filled.
