Competing in the Kentucky Dance Grand State tournament, Owensboro Catholic emerged as champions. The Lady Aces finished first in Small Varsity Hiphop and second in Small Varsity Game Day. They narrolwy beat out Apollo who finished first in Game Day and second in Hiphop.
The overall high school grand championship criteria included that first all divisions on high school were included, schools must compete in two or more categories, and highest combined scores.
“I am so proud of them and who they are today not only as dancers, but as students and young adults in our community,” Owensboro Catholic coach Miranda Austin said. “I started coaching this team two years ago and rebuilt it to what it is not, but only because they were willing to take a chance on me. I grew up dancing, it was my outlet for almost everything to share my knowledge and passion. It was our last competition of the season and I told them to just go out there and have some fun. Now they are coming home State Grand Champions and I couldn’t be anymore excited for them.”
Multiple local middle schools were also in attendance. Davies County Middle School placed third in Hiphop Large Division and fifth in the Pom Large Division. College View Middle School finished first in both Game Day Medium and Hiphop Medium. Owensboro Catholic Middle School was fourth in Small Pom won Small Gameday.
