A 19-year-old Owensboro man has been arrested for 80 counts related to possession and distribution of child porn, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to a release from OPD, the investigation stemmed from a report by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding child sexual abuse material. Detectives identified Zayin J. Vazquez as the suspect.
Vazquez was taken into custody, and authorities executed a search warrant at his residence at Woodlawn Apartments on West Parrish Avenue, according to OPD. He was interviewed at the department before being arrested and lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.
Authorities said charges against Vazquez include:
- 20 counts of distribution involving a minor under 12
- 20 counts of possession involving a minor under 12
- 20 counts of distribution involving a minor over 12
- 20 counts of possession involving a minor over 12
“Specially trained detectives with the Owensboro Police Department ICAC task force will continue to target individuals who prey on children,” OPD said. “These types of investigations may lead to the identification of other child predators or additional charges.”
