Kentucky Wesleyan College to host economist for presentation on tariffs

Kentucky Wesleyan College is hosting a free event to help provide those who are interested with more information about tariffs. Economist Dr. David Hebert will give a presentation titled “Let’s Talk About Tariffs” on February 21.

The event is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Tapscott Chapel in the Barnard-Jones Administration Building. The public is invited to attend.

Hebert is a senior researcher at the American Institute for Economic Research. He specializes in public finance, institutional economics, and political economy. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University and has held academic positions at various institutions, including Aquinas College and Troy University. His research focuses on the intersection of government finance and economic incentives, with an emphasis on how institutional structures shape policy outcomes.

Hebert has authored several publications, including “A Theory of the Optimal Size of Government” and “Public Finance and the Political Process,” which examine the efficiency of government spending and decision-making. His work has been featured in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Public Finance and Public Choice.

Beyond his academic contributions, Hebert is an active voice in economic policy discussions and frequently presents at national and international conferences. His work has been featured in The Hill and The Wall Street Journal.
