The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC) is shining a spotlight on local entrepreneurs and small businesses as part of National Entrepreneurship Week, a nationwide celebration running February 15-22. With a mix of networking events, social media engagement, and resource sharing, the initiative aims to foster innovation and collaboration within the region’s business community.
A highlight of the week is the Entrepreneur Morning Meetup at Gramps Coffee & Donuts on February 19, where business owners, startups, and aspiring entrepreneurs can connect over free coffee. The event is designed to spark conversations, build relationships, and provide insight into how GOEDC can better support local businesses.
“Entrepreneurs and small businesses play a vital role in driving the economy of Owensboro and Daviess County,” said Jamie Johnson, GOEDC Vice President of Workforce Development, Small Business, and Entrepreneurship. “By bringing entrepreneurs and small business owners together, we can help foster connections between like-minded individuals. This creates opportunities and collaborations that benefit the entire community. We also want to hear directly from them — how GOEDC can better support their success. The feedback we gather will guide the development of future programs and events tailored to their needs.”
Amy Gilmore, owner of Gramps Coffee & Donuts, expressed enthusiasm for hosting the event.
“When we started our small business four years ago, we wanted to be part of the community and contribute to an already great city,” she said. “Our hope is to meet new innovators and cheer each other on because, ultimately, we are all in this together.”
Throughout the week, GOEDC will also share entrepreneur spotlights, business resources, and interactive content on social media, providing valuable insights for those looking to start or expand their ventures.
