The Lady Cougars beat Hancock County and Owensboro Catholic held off McCracken County. In other action, Trinity (Whitesville lost on the road.
McLean County 54, Hancock County 40
Karlee Floyd scored seven of her team-high 18 points in the second quarter to help the Lady Cougars beat Hancock County 54-40. Sarah Larkin hit two threes to go along with her 12 points, while Kenadi Level and Ella Larkin both added nine points. Katie McCoy rounded out the team’s scoring with six points.
“The girls were very active on defense and forced lots of turnovers,” McLean County head coach Eli Ellis said. “I was very pleased to see our scoring spread out.”
For Hancock County, Ansley House led the way with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, while Carolina Jones finished with 11 points and five assists. Izzy Ross rounded out the team’s scoring with 10 points and added four steals, while Madyson Higdon grabbed 14 boards.
Owensboro Catholic 51, McCracken County 35
A night after their impressive win over Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic traveled to McCracken County – winning 51-35. Sophia Newby scored eight of her team-high 16 points in the second half, while Layla Martin (13) and Aubrey Randolph (11) both finished in double-digits.
“I thought today we struggled,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Michael Robertson said. “We weren’t as focused as last night, but it was a long bus ride and early game. We did enough to earn the win.”
Webster County 59, Trinity (Whitesville 42)
Traveling to Webster County, Trinity lost 59-42. Sarah Payne scored all of her team-high 13 points in the second half, while Preslee Meserve finished with 10 points. Ella Morris and Emily McDaniel both added seven points.
