Another free “Brown Bag Lunch Concert” is taking place today, allowing guests to enjoy a quick performance of classical music in an intimate session. The music selections will be “mostly Mozart with a Valentine surprise.”

Trinity Episcopal Church (720 Ford Ave.) will host the lunch concert from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Concertgoers are invited to bring their own lunch to enjoy during the program.

The musicians for this concert are Emily Bowland (clarinet), Kirsten Ahnell (clarinet), and Andy Witherington (basoon).

The free lunchtime concert series was started in 2018 by Kentucky Wesleyan College Clarinet Professor Kirsten Ahnell. Ahnell’s intent is to bring music to the public. The programs are mostly classically oriented and feature small groups of musicians.

“Some people think classical music is dying or the general public has no interest in the genre,” Ahnell said. “Since there is such a wide variety of classical music, I feel there is something for everyone.”

Ahnell acts as a moderator for the programs to help enlighten the audience. She has the musicians speak about the composers and pieces they are performing, discuss their instruments, and answer questions from the audience after the program.
