Apollo beat Hancock County on the road, while Daviess County beat Ohio County on senior night.
Apollo 66, Hancock County 54
Traveling to Hancock County for an important regional matchup, Apollo emerged victorious 66-54. Tate Powers led all scorers with 22 points, while Landon Henning recorded a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds and Kobe Kelly hit four threes to go along with his 16 points.
“It has been a tough schedule, and we have dealt with many obstacles throughout the season,” Apollo head coach Ryne Tinsley said. “Player injuries as well as other adversity, but this team continues to fight through it all. This win also solidifies a second straight winning season and a winning record in the deepest third region I have seen in the last couple of decades. I am proud of these guys and all they are accomplishing to change the culture of Apollo basketball.
For the Hornets, Keegan Wilson scored a team-high 11 points, while Dylan Morris added 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Alex Madden also scored in double-digits (10).
Daviess County 65, Ohio County 42
Honoring senior night, the Panthers took care of business, beating Ohio County 65-42. Senior Jaxob Brown led the team in scoring with 16 points and added five rebounds and three steals, while fellow senior Aydan Ayer finished with 15 points, five assists, four rebounds, two steals, and one block. The third senior Joe Varble added six points, five rebounds, one steal, one assist, and one block.
“I am happy for the three seniors and their families to get a win on senior night,” Daviess County head coach Neil Hayden said. “All three played a pivotal role in the game tonight. It was a good game to home them and their families on Luther Beatley Court.”
