The Walgreens on KY 54 will close permanently next month, and the property is already listed for sale for nearly $2 million.
A company representative said the location will close on February 19. The store is located at 3312 KY 54, at the intersection with Fairview Drive.
A statement to Owensboro Times from Jennifer Cotto, Walgreens Senior Specialist, Media Relations, Issues Management, reads:
“Our retail pharmacy business is central to our go-forward business strategy. However, increased regulatory and reimbursement pressures are weighing on our ability to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing, and supply needs. It is never an easy decision to close a store. We know that our stores are important to the communities that we serve, and therefore do everything possible to improve the store performance. When closures are necessary, like the one in Owensboro, we will work in partnership with community stakeholders to minimize customer disruptions. We intend to redeploy the majority of our team members from those stores that we close.”
Cotto said patients who receive their prescriptions at this location do not need to take any action. Their prescriptions will be automatically transferred to the Walgreens located at 2318 Frederica Street.
Owensboro Times has also obtained a brochure listing the property for sale. The property is listed by the Louisville office of real estate company CBRE.
According to the brochure, the asking price is $1,895,000. The 12,610-square-foot building sits on 1.37 acres.
Those interested in purchasing the property can email CBRE First Vice President Clay Hunt at [email protected].
