K-12/GRADE SCHOOLS
Owensboro Public Schools
OPS will use NTI Days for Thursday and Friday. Message from OPS:
Because of the entirety of the weather the past few days and the expected weather on Friday, our district will be working through a scenario that will allow us to get NTI packets and devices to students in order to provide instruction throughout the next couple of days and possibly into next week.
There is a lot of information about how this will work, so please read through everything below and if you have any questions, please reach out to us through Messenger on the Owensboro Public Schools Facebook page or by calling 270-686-1000..
Tomorrow and Friday, January 9-10, 2025, Owensboro Public Schools will utilize NTI Days #1 & #2 for our students.
For the students that already have their devices or packets, they will follow a normal NTI schedule as outlined in the district’s NTI Expectations. For those that do not have the materials they need, students and parents will be able to come pick up their devices or packets at their school tomorrow, January 9, 2025 from noon until 2 p.m.
Our Food Service staff are preparing breakfast and lunch for all students for both Thursday and Friday (four meals total) that can be picked up by the parents or students on January 9 from noon-2 p.m. when they pick up their NTI materials. Parents of students in multiple buildings can pick up meals at any one location, they do not have to go to each individual school to pick up their meals. Students do not have to be present to pick up the meals or the devices, but meals can only be distributed for students enrolled in the district.
If your family currently does not have access to the internet or electricity, please communicate that with your school and you will be given a packet to complete for the days that we are out due to weather.
I know this is a big undertaking for everyone involved and we appreciate your willingness to work together in order to ensure that we are providing educational services to our students throughout this winter weather episode.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via the methods listed above.
Daviess County Public Schools
DCPS will use an NTI Day for Thursday. Message from DCPS:
Throughout Daviess County, there are still many hazardous roads. The sun helped in many places, but not enough. The bottom line is that we don’t feel comfortable putting buses or our student drivers on some of the roads. For the safety of our students and staff, DCPS schools will be closed for in-person learning on Thursday, January 9, 2025, and Thursday will be DCPS@Home Day (#3). Elementary students will refer to their pre-printed packets or visit www.dcps.org/athome for your DAY #3 assignments. Middle and high school students will follow the Google Meet schedule provided by their teachers. Information details for DAY #3 are posted at www.dcps.org/athome.
Remember – you have 5 days to complete the assignments if you are unable to complete tomorrow. If you need to communicate with your student’s teacher for any reason, please contact them via email or Talking Points.
Elementary Students
Because of our holiday break, elementary students do not have Chromebooks and chargers. Teachers will also be available at 9 AM for a Google Meet. Schools will be sending out instructions for how to join Google Meets via Talking Points. You may use an alternate device (phone or personal computer) to log in to Google Meet, but this is not a requirement. Our teachers are available for any support or guidance throughout the day.

We understand that there are still power and internet outages affecting families. We will be flexible with those who are experiencing these issues.
