A man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly making threats involving a firearm at two local pharmacies, according to a release from the Owensboro Police Department.

Shortly before noon, OPD received a call from The Springs Pharmacy at 2200 E. Parrish Ave. reporting that a man had threatened to return with an AR-15 rifle to get his money back before leaving the store, according to the release.

While officers were en route to the pharmacy, OPD said the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital pharmacy contacted them, reporting the same individual was inside their facility making similar threats.

Officers responded to the hospital pharmacy, where they located, and arrested Thomas Swift of Owensboro, according to the release. OPD said Swift admitted to owning a rifle but denied plans to retrieve it. However, he made a statement to officers, saying, “That’s why people shoot up places,” the release stated.

Swift was charged with one count of second-degree terroristic threatening and one count of menacing, according to OPD.
