A 46-year-old Owensboro man has been arrested for possession of child porn, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to an OPD release, an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force detective with the OPD Criminal Investigations Division received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding child sexual abuse material.

OPD’s investigation led to Joey Rust as the suspect. He was taken into custody and detectives executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Pennbrooke Avenue on Thursday, according to OPD. Rust was subsequently arrested and lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center on four counts of following possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor under 12 years old.

“Specially trained detectives with the Owensboro Police Department ICAC task force will continue to target individuals who prey on children. These types of investigations may lead to the identification of other child predators or additional charges,” the OPD release says.
