Rep. DJ Johnson of Owensboro has filed House Bill 92, a measure aimed at expanding the definition of guilt for possession or viewing of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

“Possession or viewing of child pornography is a horrific crime that leaves lasting scars on its victims,” Johnson said. “Ultimately, I filed HB 92 to protect our children.”

The bill would broaden the scope of the offense to include cases where the sexual performance is depicted through computer-generated images. It would also require that individuals convicted of such crimes serve at least 85% of their sentence before being eligible for probation or parole.

Johnson said he has received backing for the measure from Fraternal Order of Police members and prosecutors.

“I am honored to receive support for this measure from our law enforcement officers and prosecutors,” Johnson said. “This measure will ensure that those convicted face justice for the egregious crimes committed against our children.”
