Daviess County beat Apollo in a City-County matchup, while McLean County and Trinity (Whitesville) both fell short.
Daviess County 71, Apollo 13
Lily Hoagland and Kennedy Lane combined for 43 points to power the Lady Panthers to a 71-13 win over Apollo. This marked Hoagland’s 1000th career point. Zoey Beehn was third on the team in scoring with 10 points, while Riley Hayden added eight points.
For Apollo, Aubrey Johnson led the way with seven points, while LaShay Vera (4) and Jessica Lee (2) rounded out the team’s scoring.
Ohio County 50, McLean County 49
Running out of steam down the stretch, McLean County dropped a heartbreaker to Ohio County 50-49. Karlee Floyd led the way with 15 points, while Kenedi Level added 14 points. Katie McCoy finished third on the team in scoring with 11 points.
“The girls fought hard and came out and set the tone early,” McLean County head coach Eli Ellis said. “We ran out of gas at the end and missed some shots late in the game Ohio County made some big threes.”
Butler County 69, Trinity (Whitesville) 65
Trinity was unable to capitalize on opportunities in crunch time, falling 69-65 to Butler County. Rylynne Meserve led the way with five three-pointers to go along with her 21 points, while Sarah Payne added 16 points. Ella Morris and Preslee Meserve added eight points each.
“We did much better in several areas tonight, but we still missed to many layups and free throws,” Trinity (Whitesville) head coach Emily Hernandez said. “We competed for 32 minutes and that is a plus. We just have to find a way to finish.”
