Hancock County beat Apollo, while McLean County and Trinity (Whitesville) both won at home.
Hancock County 58, Apollo 22
Overcoming a sluggish start, the Lady Hornets impressed in their 58-22 win over Apollo. Ansley House filled the stat sheet, finishing with 14 points, nine rebounds, seven steals, and five blocks. Carolina Jones finished with a team-high 19 points and added six assists.
“We got off to a slow start, but I thought after the first quarter that we did a much better job of bringing the defensive intensity that I expect out of us,” Hancock County head coach Kevin Husk said.
Jessica Lee led the way for Apollo with eight points, while Emersyn Bullington added seven points. Aubrey Johnson (3), Eriyah Curry (2), and Mattingly Taylor (2) rounded out the teams scoring.
McLean County 60, Dawson Springs 12
It was a balanced attack for the Lady Cougars, as eight different players scored in their 60-12 win over Dawson Springs. Kenedi Level all scorers with 15 points, while Karlee Floyd (13) and Katie McCoy (12) also finished in double figures. Ella Larkin was fourth on the team in scoring with nine points.
“I was happy to see several girls score in double figures,” McLean County head coach Eli Ellis said. “We forced several turnovers and did a great job of moving the ball in transition.”
Trinity (Whitesville) 57, Cloverport 16
A night after a disappointing loss to Edmonson County, the Lady Raiders bounced back to beat Cloverport 57-16. Preslee Meserve scored all of her team-high 13 points in the first half, while Rylynee Meserve added nine points. Sophie Hatfield was third on the team in scoring with eight points.
