Owensboro Catholic rode an impressive second half to beat Daviess County, while McLean County won at home. In other action, Trinity (Whitesville) fell at home to Edmonson County.

Owensboro Catholic 55, Davies County 46

In their first matchup of the season, Owensboro Catholic emerged victorious over their rivals 55-46. Aubrey Randolph scored 11 of her team-high 20 points in the first half, while Karmin Riley added 11 points. Katie Hagan was third on the team in scoring with eight points, while Taylor Mannahan and Layla Martin added six points each.

“I thought we fought hard tonight in the second half and didn’t give up,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Michael Robertson said. “Daviess came out in the first half and punched us right in the mouth, but we got up off the canvas and fought back. I was proud of how my girls responded to the challenge.”

Kennedy Lane finished with 14 points for the Lady Panthers, while Lily Hoagland added 11 points. Zoey Beehn was third on the team in scoring with 10 points.

“I thought we put together a decent first half, but ultimately our poor decision-making cost us,” Daviess County head coach Natalie Payne said. “Hats off to Catholic, as they remained mentally tough and imposed their will in the second half. We will correct the things we need to improve upon and get ready for Apollo on Friday.”

McLean County 55, Livingston Central 43

Karlee Floyd exploded for 22 points to help power the Lady Cougars to a 55-43 win over Livingston Central. Kenedi Level added 12 points, while Sarah Larkin was third on the team in scoring with eight points.

“The girls came out and were knocking down shots”, McLean County head coach Eli Ellis said. “We did a great job of executing tonight. We did a great job of being in the gaps of their zone and moved the ball well to generate shots. Our defense was a lot better because of our talking while defending. “

Edmonson County 53, Trinity (Whitesville) 35

A slow first half doomed the Lady Raiders to a 53-35 loss to Edmonson County. Rylynne Meserve and Preslee Meserve combined for 20 points, while Sarah Payne added eight points.

“We have to play for 32 minutes,” Trinity (Whitesville) head coach Emily Hernandez said. “It is hard to dig out of a 19-point half-time deficit. We adjusted at halftime, but we have to come ready to play.”
