Daviess County and McLean County started off 2025 with wins, while Hancock County lost at home.

Daviess County 63, South Warren 20

Kennedy Lane was lights out, scoring 22 points on 9-15 shooting from the field to help the Lady Panthers cruise past South Warren 63-20. Zoey Beehn recorded another double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) while Lily Hoagland hit two threes to go along with her eight points.

“Our defense was the best I have seen this season,” Daviess County head coach Natalie Payne said. “When our defense is clicking and our rotations are there, we are able to get out and run. We are shooting the ball well especially these past two games. We have a lot of confidence in each other, sharing the ball, and taking pride in the “one more” pass. But it all starts with our defense. Our team is buying into that.”

Edmonson County 61, Hancock County 33

Ansley House finished with 14 points and seven rebounds as Hancock County couldn’t close it out at home, losing to Edmonson County 61-33. Madyson Higdon grabbed 14 boards, while Izzy Ross was second on the team in scoring with 10 points.

“Edmonson played like a well experienced team,” Hancock County head coach Kevin Husk said. “We’ll look to keep working in practice and continue watching film to try and keep taking steps in the right direction.”

McLean County 58, Cloverport 11

Karlee Floyd hit four threes to go along with her 20 points as McLean County dominated Cloverport 58-11. Sarah Larkin scored all seven of her points in the first quarter, while Mallory Hampton added three threes to go along with her 11 points.

“Our girls played good team ball tonight,” McLean County head coach Eli Ellis said. “We did a good job of getting out in transition early in the game from forced turnovers and we hit several threes.”
