Dollar Tree is adding a location on KY 144 in the shopping center anchored by the Consumer Mall, according to documents obtained by Owensboro Times.
Documents show the store will be located at 3026 KY 144. Most recently, that space was home to the bargain store Gimme A 5, which closed in June 2023 after about 2 years of operation there.
Owensboro Times obtained two permits related to the site, which is owned by Wyndalls Center, Inc.
A sign permit was issued on January 2 to applicant A&B Sign Co. to install a sign that will read “Dollar Tree.”
Additionally, a building permit is taped to the inside window of the currently empty storefront. It shows the permit was issued on January 8 to applicant Elder Construction of Louisville, with the type of work listed as “interior build-out for new Dollar Tree store.” The permit shows the space is 10,822 square feet, and the construction cost is listed as $396,954.78.
Owensboro Times was unable to reach the Dollar Tree for comment.
Dollar Tree already has four locations in Owensboro: 3980 Frederica Street (in the Sherwood Plaza Shopping Center near the bypass); 1761 West Parrish Avenue (near Owensboro Catholic High School); 3500 Villa Point Drive (just off KY 54); and 5221 Frederica Street (in the former Pier 1).
