A 26-year-old Owensboro man is facing charges related to drug trafficking and child endangerment after more than 50 pounds of marijuana, 400 THC vape cartridges, and several paraphernalia items were seized following an arrest on Wednesday, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. Some of the items were reportedly easily accessible to children in the home.

According to DCSO, detectives with the Special Investigations Unit and patrol deputies approached a residence in the 800 block of East Byers Avenue to serve an indictment warrant on Colton J. Ford.

“While on the front porch of the residence, detectives noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the home. After gaining entry, Ford was located inside along with a female and two small children. Marijuana was observed in plain view in the home (loose and lying on the floor) which was easily accessible to the children who reside there,” the release says.

DCSO said additional evidence indicative of a large-scale trafficking operation was located, including more than 50 pounds of packaged marijuana, scales, baggies, a shrink-wrapping machine, a large quantity of U.S. currency, a label maker, hide-away safes, and approximately 400 THC vape cartridges.

In addition to the indictment warrant, Ford has been charged with several drug-related offenses. All evidence was seized and logged into evidence by DCSO. Ford was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Trafficking in Marijuana over 5 pounds, 1st Offense
  • Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (2 Counts)
  • Daviess County Circuit Court Indictment Warrant:
    • Assault 1st Degree (Domestic Violence)
    • Strangulation 1st Degree (Domestic Violence)
