Competing at the Best of the West Individual on Saturday, Daviess County swim finished fifth out of 26 schools. The Lady Panthers 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay team posted season-bests of 2:00.33 and 1:50.27 – winning both races. The girls team consisted of freshman Ryleigh Bevil and Grace Bullock, sophomore Ellie Girten, and junior Alaina Mason.
In the individual races, Bevil finished first in the 200 IM, and 100 breaststroke, Girten finished first in the 100 freestyle and second in the 200 IM, and Alaina Mason was third in the 100 butterfly.
The boys’ relay finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:40.69) – made up of freshmen Caden Embry, sophomores Caleb Sosh and Mack Burton, and senior Victor Neves.
“Our girls’ team was down six swimmers and our boys didn’t have one of our top relay members with us,” Daviess County coach Megan Bevil said. “So even though we had some great swims, we couldn’t really see how we will match up against those teams with all of our pieces put together. I am looking forward to finding out at our next few meets.”
