Daviess County wins swimming City County

Overcoming an early deficit, the Daviess County swim team took home first place with a combined team score of 301 to win City County. The Panthers finished first amongst the boys’ teams with a score of 151, while the Lady Panthers were second in the girls’ team rankings with a score of 150.

Daviess County took first in the girls’ 200 medley relay, girls’ 200 IM, boys diving, girls’ 100 freestyle, girls’ 200 freestyle relay, boys’ 200 freestyle relay, girls’ backstroke, girls 100 breaststroke, and the boys 400 freestyle relay.

Owensboro Catholic finished second with a team score of 264. The girls’ team finished first (169) while the boys’ team tied for third with Apollo (95). Owensboro Catholic finished first in the boys’ 200 medley relay, girls’ 200 freestyle, boys 200 IM, girls’ 50 freestyle, girls’ 100 butterfly, boys’ 100 freestyle, girls’ 500 freestyle, boys’ 100 breaststroke, and the girls’ 400 freestyle relay.

“I couldn’t have asked more from them,” Owensboro Catholic coach Sam Howard said. “Several of them broke their personal records and some won their events. I was extremely proud of their performance and hard work.”

Apollo finished third with a team score of 146. The girls’ team finished third, while the boys’ team tied for third with the Aces. Apollo’s Emmitt Brock finished first in the boys’ 100 butterfly with a time of 58.34.

Owensboro finished fourth overall, while their boys’ team was second and girls’ team was fourth. Georgia Warren won the girls’ diving for the Lady Devils, scoring 349.45. Owensboro also finished first in the boys’ 200 freestyle, boys’ 50 freestyle, boys’ 100 freestyle, boys’ 500 freestyle, and the boys’ 100 backstroke.
