Hancock County bounced back in the second half to beat Whitefield Academy, while Trinity (Whitesville) couldn’t hold off Hart County at home.

The Hornets overcame a slow start to beat Whitefield Academy at home 60-55. Keegan Wilson led the way with 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists, while Abe Simpson scored 15 points on an efficient 5-8 shooting. Alex Madden grabbed seven boards and added five points.

“We got off a little sluggish which probably contributed from playing the night before and a quick turnaround,” Hancock County head coach Josh Roberts said. “We battled inside and knocked down some shots in the half court set to catch up. We matched their intensity and held our ground on defense – taking their key players out of the mix. I thought our bench really showed up too, lifting us down the stretch.”

Will Hernandez, Connor Hatfield, and Hayden Aull combined for 33 points as Trinity fell at home to Hart County 60-49. Cale Boarman (7), Harrison Barnett (6), and Ian Roby (3) rounded out the teams scoring.

“Overall, it was a much better game tonight. We still need to work on playing at a pace that we want to play at – not letting other teams influence how we play,” Trinity head coach Nathan West said. “We couldn’t capitalize at the foul line either which was a huge factor. We battled, but we just had some lapses that cost us the game.”
