Apollo split their double-header, Daviess County, Owensboro Catholic, and Trinity all picked up wins, while Owensboro fell short.

LaRue County 51, Apollo 31

In their second game of the E-Gals’ Classic, Apollo ran out of steam, falling to LaRue County 51-31. LaShay Vera led the way with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Brynlee Johnson grabbed 10 rebounds.

Apollo 36, Southern 25

Emersyn Bullington scored a team-high 14 points to help power Apollo to a 36-25 win over Southern in their third game of the E-Gals’ Classic. Bullington hit three threes and added three rebounds and three steals. After an off-shooting game in the morning, Aubrey Johnson bounced back with 12 points while going 2-4 from deep. LaShey Vera had another dominant rebound game, grabbing 12 boards to go along with her seven points.

Daviess County 53, Christian County 28

Lily Hoagland and Kennedy Lane each scored 17 points to help fuel the Lady Panthers to a 53-28 win over Christian County. Zoey Beehn added nine points, while Riley Hayden (3), Mack Elliot (2), Molly Hancock (2), and Maddie Barnon (1) rounded out the team’s scoring.

“This was another hard-fought game that came down to defense and rebounding,” Daviess County head coach Natalie Payne said. “Our team came ready to compete. In the third quarter, we outscored them 20-6 and we picked up the intensity on defense that led to some transition points. I am so proud of the fight and the grit. We have played two really tough teams back-to-back and our girls our battling.”

Dyersburg TN 64, Owensboro 33

It was an off day for the Lady Devils, falling to a strong Dyersburg TN team 64-33. Keely Harris and Shalyn Sprinkles each scored seven points, while Abby Sapp added six points.

“We played a really good team that caused us to make too many mistakes,” Owensboro head coach Jansen Locher said. “We turned the ball over too many times and didn’t rebound. That is a recipe for disaster against good teams. I am still confident in my team and what we can be. We have work to do, but I’m confident we will be a great team by the end of the season.”

Owensboro Catholic 70, Heritage Hills (Lincoln City), IN 48

For a third straight game, Karmin Riley led the team in scoring with 13 points, helping fuel the Lady Aces to a 0-48 win over Heritage Hills. Sophia Newby finished with 12 points including going a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line, while Taylor Mannahan added 11 points.

“This was a great team win,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Michael Robertson said. “We have to continue to learn and get better.”

Trinity (Whitesville 55, Northeast (Clarksville), TN 44

Flashing her potential, seventh grader Rylynne Meserve exploded for a career-high 32 points to help power Trinity past Northeast 55-44 as part of the H & H Holiday Hoopfest. Meserve hit a team-high six threes and was named the games MVP, while Sophie Hatfield went 4-8 from the free throw line to accompany her six points.
