Traveling to the McCracken County Invitational, the Apollo girls’ bowling team arrived with one goal in mind, leave with some hardware. They achieved exactly that, finishing second. Sophomore Sophie O’Bryan finished third for the All-Tournament Team individuals, while teammate Raleigh Shelton was sixth.
Placed as the third seed, the E-Gals knocked out two seed and hosts McCracken County, before falling to Graves County in three games.
“I am super impressed with our Lady Eagles performance today against some really good region one teams that we will be up against soon for a chance to make the state tournament,” Apollo head coach Kerrie Franklin said. “We wanted to leave with some hardware and a top two finish showing that we are a contender for the region and getting back to state to represent region one and the girls did just that.”
The Red Devils finished fourth out of 18 teams, while their coed team placed 17th. Tristan Miller was named the Boys All-Tournament Team Champion with scores of 260 and 232. Teammate Trey Douglas placed 10th and recorded two new high games of 206 and 211.
Christian Miller rolled a 203, while Chuck Canady bowled a 193 and 192. For the Red Devils, they will be heading to Louisville on January 4th for the PRP Tournament.
Daviess County sent two teams, which finished seventh and 16th. Taylor Curry anchored the first team, bowling 152 and 195 to finish 11th overall in the girls’ individual, while Evan Onstott rolled 216 and 166 to finish 19th in the boys’ individual.
For the second team, Levi Davenport rolled 118 and 114, both over his average, while Milan Ferguson and Logan Ramsdall bowled 160 and 175. Ferguson also bowled five strikes during the baker games.
“I am very proud with how the team performed today,” coach Casey Carroll said. “They worked hard, listened, and made adjusts as necessary. I have no doubt their scores will continue to improve as they grow through each experience this season.”
