Trinity outlasted Apollo, while McLean County took down Hancock County in a pair of important coverage team matchups. In other action, the Lady Aces won their last home game of the season in dominant fashion.
Trinity 3, Apollo 2
The seniors came alive for the Lady Raiders, leading the team to a narrow 3-2 (25-16, 27-29, 23-25, 25-20, 20-18) victory over Apollo. Seniors Caroline Hall, Kenzie McDowell, and Emily McDaniel led the team in digs, assists, and kills with 41, 25, and 14 respectively. Junior Ava Commes added a team-high seven blocks.
Tonight was nothing short of incredible,” Trinity head coach Brooke Hall said. “When you play a team loaded with offense like that- you’ve got to bring your A-game and we did. I am incredibly proud of our defense tonight. It was a team effort. I am so proud of our girls and ready to tackle the postseason.”
For the E-Gals, Ava Fazio finished with a team-high 20 kills and four blocks, while Avery Gray recorded 15 digs 11 kills, three service aces, and two blocks. Jessica Lee led the team in assists with 23 and added six kills.
“It was a hard-fought battle between two of the top teams in the region,” Apollo head coach Mary Howard said. “Every set was back and forth all night. We made some unforced errors at critical times, but I was very proud of how hard the girls fought for every point right to the end.”
McLean County 3, Hancock County 0
Addy Kirby led the Lady Cougars with 14 assists, eight service aces, and six kills in their 3-0 win over Hancock County. Rachel Roberts finished with nine kills, four service aces, and one block while Marybeth Miller recorded seven kills. Abbi Shivers led the team in digs with 20 and added a service ace.
Owensboro Catholic 3, Henderson County 1
Olivia Castlen’s 20 kills, 10 digs, two blocks, and two service aces fueled the Lady Aces to a 3-1 (25-3m 25-14, 20-25, 25-14) win over Henderson County. Reese Keller recorded 40 assists and added four service aces, three digs, and one kill, while Andi Davis led the team in digs and service aces with 18 and six. This was the Lady Aces last home game before the postseason.
