In a pair of City-County matches on Tuesday, Apollo cruised past Daviess County and Owensboro Catholic outlasted Owensboro. McLean County earned a sweep over Hopkinsville.

Apollo 3, Daviess County 1

Ava Fazio led the E-Gals with 17 kills as they held off city-county rival Daviess County 3-1 (17-25, 25-16, 25-10, 25-14). Jessica Lee, Jessie Pate, and Abie Butterworth were the team leaders in assists, digs, and service aces with 34, 22, and five, while Avery Gray recorded 20 digs and 16 kills.

“Daviess County came out strong on defense tonight,” Apollo head coach Mary Howard said. “As the sets wore on, we were able to get in a good rhythm offensively led by aggressive serving. It was a good district win.”

Owensboro Catholic 3, Owensboro 2

Olivia Castlen led the Lady Aces with a team-high 16 kills and added 10 digs, five service aces, and an assist in the team’s 3-2 (26-24, 16-25, 29-27, 29-25, 15-10) thrilling win over Owensboro. Tyanda Stuart finished with 15 digs, 12 kills, and two blocks, while Andi Davis finished with 22 digs. Reese Keller and Mayme Powell put on a passing clinic, recording 29 and 24 assists respectively.

The Lady Devils’ Addie Travis led all players with 17 kills and nine blocks while adding 11 digs. Anna Travis and Rose Larsen led the Lady Devils in assists and digs with 23 and 21.

“I’m proud of my team and the way they battled tonight,” Owensboro head coach Melissa Hibbs said. “We did a much better job controlling the net and focusing on our side. I like the direction we are moving in.”

McLean County 3, Hopkinsville 0

Senior Rachel Roberts led the Lady Cougars with 15 kills, eight digs, two service aces, and two blocks in their 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-14) win over Hopkinsville. Addy Kirby recorded 25 assists and seven kills, while freshman Marybeth Milled added 11 kills.
