Facing off against the only other undefeated team in the district, the Hornets were unable to keep up, falling to Union County 49-7. Scheduled for Friday evening, but due to a lack of refs, the two teams played on Thursday at Union County.
The Hornets’ defense was unable to get going early, allowing 42- and 57-yard touchdowns on Union County’s first two drives.
After going three and out on their opening possession, Hancock County was able to march down the field, setting up a Dylan Morris 12-yard touchdown pass to Jaxson Morris with 27 seconds left in the opening quarter.
Unfortunately, this was the only time they would find the back of the endzone while the Braves kept the accelerator on.
“It was a tough night,” Hancock County head coach Bob Eubanks said. “Hats off to Union County. We just have to get back at it next week, and I need to do a better job getting us ready.”
