The E-Gals made sure to close out their regular season on a high note, sweeping both Meade County (25-21, 25-21, 25-16) and University Heights (25-16, 25-14, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon. Ava Fazio led the way with 20 kills and eight blocks, while Abie Butterworth finished with a team-high 18 digs and added 11 kills, and five service aces.

Jessie Pate recorded nine service aces across the two games, breaking the Apollo school record for aces in a season. She also added 16 digs.

“We had two great wins today to finish out the regular season,” Apollo head coach Mary Howard said. “The girls brought positive energy to every play today and it was a great way to finish at home. We are in a great place moving into the postseason.”

The 9th district tournament begins on Monday with Owensboro Catholic and Daviess County facing off at 5:30 and Owensboro taking on Apollo at 7:30. The championship game will be on Wednesday with all three games at Owensboro High School.
