Continuing a hot start, Owensboro High School shot a 158 en route to a home match win at Ben Hawes Golf Course on Tuesday. Owensboro Catholic took second, with the Aces’ Luke Estes shooting the low round individually.

For OHS, Will Hume led the way and tied for second with Apollo’s Carter Kimmel and Hancock County’s Jacob Shultz after they all recorded a 38, but Hume officially took third after losing the scorecard playoff.

“Once again we had a new person step up and place in a match,” Owensboro head coach Pat Hume said. “Nolan Warren was out and Will Hume Stepped up to lead us. Will Rickard and Jax Malone have both stepped up in the previous two tournaments so our goal is to have everyone playing their best by regional tournament time.”

Rickard and Malone shot a 39 and 40, respectively. Cole Crews and Walker Gaddis each shot 41; each team only counts the top four scores.

Owensboro Catholic finished second with a 160, behind Estes’ low round of 37.

“Luke continues to compete at a high level,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Mark Price said. “He finished in the top 10 at the Paducah Tilghman Invitational this past Saturday on a very tough golf course. He has a solid mindset and doesn’t let a bad hole affect his play going forward.

Hanock County shot 161 to place third..

“Jacob Shultz was in a very good spot through the first five holes. He was -2,” Hancock County head coach Jeff Shultz said. “He just couldn’t close it out. Sometimes you just have to grind it out and that’s what he did.”

Daviess County finished with a team score of 176 and was led by Walker Ferguson’s 42, while Apollo’s team finished with a 187.
