Daviess County Election Office has opened applications for poll workers for the November 5 General Election. County Clerk Leslie McCarty also noted a change in polling centers this year.
Poll workers are required to attend training before election day and work on November 5, with the option of working during early voting days.
McCarty said they try to bring in 200 poll workers, with a 50% split by party, to ensure equal party representation.
Poll workers can have any of four jobs, ranging from helping someone receive the correct ballot to ensuring that a ballot is turned in correctly.
“Really, everybody there kind of helps each other with their jobs,” McCarty said.
McCarty said all poll workers would be paid, and those who work during early voting would earn a higher pay.
If someone is interested in working the polls, McCarty said to contact the County Clerk’s office or their party’s representative on the Election Council: the Republican Representative is Jane Lambert and the Democratic Representative is Lisa Leonard.
The application can also be found on the County’s election site here.
Polling Centers
McCarty said that Legacy Church, the former Malco Theatre, will not be a polling location this November as they are closing the location. Instead, HIS Church, at 4810 Frederica Street, will serve as a polling center in its place.
