Several local programs battled it out on the links Monday evening, with Owensboro continuing to find the win column. Trinity also faced off against McLean County at Panther Creek.

Ben Hawes: Owensboro 150, Owensboro Catholic 163, Ohio County 174, Daviess County 175, Apollo 195

Led by Will Rickard and Jax Malone, the Red Devils scored 150 to win their weekly nine-hole matchup against their regional rivals. Both Rickard and Malone, as well as Ohio County’s Shawn Cotton, tied for first in the individual with a 36, but it was Rickard who won the tiebreaker. Cotton finished second, and Malone third.

“Tonight we had a three-way tie for first, which was decided by a scorecard playoff,” Owensboro head coach Pat Hume said. “Again, I was pleased with the way our guys played. Will Rickard is the 4th different player to lead our team in scoring this season. I hope to get everyone to peak in late September and early October.”

Owensboro’s Nolan Warren, Will Hume, and Cole Crews rounded out the team’s scoring — shooting a 36, 40, and 40 respectively.

Luke Estes was the leading player for Owensboro Catholic, shooting a 38. Daviess County didn’t play their top five and in their stead, Bransen Berry and Jackson Powers led the Panthers with a 42.

“Our team played well,” Daviess County head coach Lars King said. “We didn’t play our top five, so it was great to see the other players compete.”

Apollo’s Carter Kimmel and Brady Robbins tied for the best score on the team with a 48.

Panther Creek: Trinity 242, McLean 242

Trinity defeated McLean County at Panther Creek Golf Club in Utica. The Raiders fired off a 207, while McLean shot a 242.

Hayden Aull recorded a match-low 48, followed by Finn Williams’ 49. Connor Hatfield’s 54 and Wathen Millay’s 56 rounded out Trinity’s scoring efforts.

“Most of our players are new to the sport,“ said head coach Neal Kirkpatrick. “I’m really proud of the commitment level they’ve shown and their desire to get better. That’s our goal, to get better every day.”

Treyson Blades led McLean County with a 52. Other scorers for the Cougars were Carter Weldon with a 57, Ian Howard with a 62, and Mason Howard with a 73.
