A 61-year-old Owensboro man has been charged with 60 counts related to possession of child porn, according to the Owensboro Police Department. Authorities said the man was the suspect in five separate investigations that were reported by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
According to OPD, Joseph Anthony Maxberry was arrested Friday afternoon following the execution of a search warrant that morning in the 2900 block of Legion Park Drive. The warrant was executed by OPD’s Criminal Investigations Division with assistance from Kentucky State Police.
Authorities said the warrant was the result of five Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force investigations that were reported by the NCMEC regarding child sexual abuse material.
With assistance from the KSP Electronic Crime Branch, OPD arrested and charged Maxberry with 60 counts of:
- Distribution of Matter Portraying Sex Performance by a Minor
- Possession of Matter Portraying Sex Performance by a Minor under 12 years of age
- Possession of Matter Portraying Sex Performance by a Minor over 12 years of age
Maxberry was booked in the Daviess County Detention Center but his mug shot was not available at the time of publication.
“Specially trained detectives from the Owensboro Police Department and Kentucky State Police serve on the ICAC task force and continue to target individuals who prey on children through these types of investigations,” OPD said in an announcement about the arrest. “The Owensboro Police Department is committed to the safety of our community and protecting the most vulnerable.”
