No first day of school fit is complete without a fresh haircut, and GG’s salon wants to provide them for free to students this Saturday. Helping the community doesn’t stop there; as the salon will is collecting food donations to assist with Computer Dave’s monthly pantry inventory.

GG’s owner Steph Boling said it is difficult for some families to afford the back-to-school haircut as prices continue to rise. So, she’s offering a haircut for the low price of a jar of peanut butter or a pack of ramen noodles.

“Instead of going and spending $25 or $30 on a back-to-school haircut, why don’t you just run over to the Dollar Tree or Walmart or Kroger and just grab a $1 can of peanut butter or $2 pack of ramen noodles and get a haircut,” Boling said.

Boling said she doesn’t plan to turn anyone away if they are unable to donate to the mission. GG’s is located at 5010 Wildcat Way, Suite 2, just beside Walmart.

The donations they receive will go toward their neighbor Computer Dave’s donation pantry. Owner David Fogle donates nonperishable foods and other goods monthly to areas such as the Cadillac Motel, Colonel House, Dixana Court, “Tent City,” and more.

Seeing the work Fogle’s business does inspired Boling to collect and further his mission.

“We thought this year, wouldn’t it be great if we could do something to help them as well, so that not only are we helping those that need care, but we’re also able to help another ministry,” Boling said.

Boling said her granddaughter will also donate goods and hold a bake sale in the salon.

When she presented the idea to her team, Boling said all the stylists volunteered to contribute to the community effort, whether by checking in or providing cuts. On Saturday, no appointments will be needed.

“It’s really the team that I have behind me that makes us so successful, that makes my shops successful,” she said. “It’s known that I have that. So I’m really humbled and thankful and fortunate to have such an amazing group of talented artists that support my vision.”
