DCSO: 2 juveniles charged after fireworks burglary

Two juveniles were charged after a Daviess County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed them running across the Wendell Ford Expressway early Friday morning with stolen fireworks, according to DCSO reports.

According to DCSO, the two individuals were 13 and 14. Deputy Ryan Hatfield observed the two wearing ski masks and carrying objects at the 1800 block of the US Wendell Ford Expressway. When Hatfield initially approached, the individuals fled but were found behind Menards.

DCSO learned the two had stolen fireworks from a nearby stand before being caught.

Both juveniles were charged and released to the custody of their parents per the Court Designated Worker’s Office, and the stolen property was returned to the fireworks stand owner.

Both juveniles received the following identical charges:

  • Burglary 3rd Degree
  • Obstructing a Highway
  • Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree (On Foot)
  • Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree
