The Daviess County 11U All-Stars defeated Russell in blow-out fashion on Tuesday. Owensboro Southern’s 10U team will head home after suffering a narrow defeat to a solid North Oldham team.

Daviess County jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead in the first before putting six runs on the board in the bottom of the second to tout a 9-1 lead. They added two more in the third and another in the fifth to eventually mercy rule Russell 12-2.

Bennett Mason and Carson Ashby each recorded two hits, with Ashby amassing a tournament-high four RBIs. All but three of the All-Star squad managed to cross home plate, with Jake Watkins and Ashby both scoring two runs a piece.

Owen Gaynor earned the win on the mound, allowing one run on three hits in two and two-thirds innings pitched. JP Hedges and Jaxen Bickett both entered in relief, doing their part to hold Russell to one run.

Southern’s post-season run came to an end on Tuesday after losing 4-2 to North Oldham. Even though the All-Star squad managed to out-hit North Oldham 5-2, they struggled to put runs on the board.

Aaron Higdon pitched a solid game, allowing only four runs (two earned) on just two hits in three and one-third innings of work. Haddon Brooks allowed no runs on no hits in relief.

River Martin, Higdon, Corbin Sims, Levi Marks, and John Blair each recorded one hit-a-piece, while Blair secured the team’s only RBI.

Southern ended the season 5-3 and district champions.
