The entrance to Walmart from KY 54 will be closed through Friday as work continues in preparation for the planned highway widening project, according to state and county officials.
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is temporarily closing Mt. Moriah Avenue at the entrance to Walmart on KY 54 in order to relocate buried utilities, according to KYTC. Only the portion of Mt. Moriah Avenue extending from KY 54 to the parking lot will be closed. The blockage is expected to last through Friday.
There will be no marked detour, but KYTC has placed message boards in the area to alert motorists of the temporary closure.
To enter the Walmart parking lot, drivers will need to go to Fairview Drive. The portion of Mt. Moriah Avenue that runs from Fairview to the parking lot will remain open. Drivers can also take Kidron Valley Way from Fairview to reach the parking lot.
This project is similar to the recent work at the entrance to Hayden Road near Gateway Commons.
