An Owensboro man has been arrested after an investigation determined he carried on a sexual relationship with a juvenile female who became pregnant, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. The juvenile’s mother has also been charged with allowing the relationship to occur.

According to DCSO, detectives with the General Investigations Unit (GIU) arrested Antonio Martin Alonzo, 25, for third-degree rape following the investigation that began in early June.

“Detective Matt Fitzgerald, lead investigator on this case, conducted a thorough investigation and spoke with several parties who had information regarding the ongoing activity,” a release from DCSO said. “He then obtained an arrest warrant from the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for Alonzo’s arrest.”

Fitzgerald also charged the victim’s mother with endangering the welfare of a minor “for her awareness of the relationship and for allowing Alonzo to be involved with her daughter,” according to the release. Owensboro Times has chosen not to include the mother’s name to help further protect the identity of the juvenile victim.

Alonzo and the mother were lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. This investigation is ongoing, and more charges are anticipated.
