DCSO: 3 arrested for drug trafficking operation on West Legion Boulevard

Three people are facing several charges after an investigation into a drug trafficking operation at a residence on West Legion Boulevard, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release, DCSO Special Investigations Unit (SIU) detectives served a search warrant Monday as part of the investigation.

“The residence was targeted after DCSO received numerous complaints about suspected drug activity taking place there,” the release says. “During the search of the residence, multiple items of evidence were located and seized including methamphetamine, marijuana, hydrocodone pills, digital scales, plastic baggies used to distribute narcotics, U.S. currency, several glass pipes with drug residue, and other types of drug paraphernalia. 

Robert R. McKnight, 60, James R. McKnight, 27, and Candace L. Piper, 39, all of the 200 block of West Legion Boulevard, were arrested during the operation. In addition to multiple drug offenses, Robert and James McKnight each had multiple warrants including a parole violation that had been active since February 2022, according to DCSO. All three suspects were taken to the Daviess County Detention Center. 

Robert R. McKnight was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – 1st degree, 2nd or greater offense (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a controlled substance – 1st degree, 1st offense 
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia (buy/possess)
  • Warrants 
  • Contempt of court libel/slander resistance to order
  • Failure to appear (Daviess District Court)
  • Failure to appear (Daviess Circuit Court)
  • Failure to appear (Henderson District Court)

James R. McKnight was charged with:

  • Trafficking in marijuana (2nd or greater offense) (firearm enhancement)
  • Possession of a controlled substance – 1st degree, 1st offense (meth) (firearm enhancement) 
  • Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
  • Drug paraphernalia (buy/possess)
  • Warrants 
  • Parole violation warrant
  • Contempt of court libel/slander resistance to order
  • Failure to appear (Daviess District Court)
  • Failure to appear (Daviess District Court)
  • Failure to appear (Daviess Circuit Court)

Candace L. Piper was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a controlled substance – 1st degree, 1st offense 
  • Illegal possession of a legend drug
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia (buy/possess)
