Sam’s Club – a membership-only warehouse chain offering bulk grocery items, electronics, home goods, and more – opened at 5240 South Frederica Street in 2006.
Brent Sorrells has been a part of the club since its conception and now serves as the store manager. He said he and his team of associates take great pride in providing for the community in a multitude of ways.
“Throughout the years, we’ve been able to assist the community in need through different situations like natural disasters and the pandemic, and that’s important to me and our associates who come in and work hard every day,” Sorrells said. “We can also give back through the Walmart foundation, which we use to support several local nonprofits.”
Beyond giving, Sorrells said the club has become an integral part of several local small businesses, which depend on the store for various needs.
“It’s rewarding to offer a product that allows small business to grow and sustain growth,” he said. “We value those relationships and want to form more. We also love patronizing them every opportunity we get.”
The store employs 119 associates and continues growing and expanding its products and services. In addition to offering wholesale prices for several name-brand products, the store features a pharmacy, cafe, and tire center.
“Our associates want to make Sam’s Club a shopping destination, and they go above and beyond to ensure our members have an exceptional shopping experience,” Sorrells said. “We want to be a store people can visit for groceries and everyday needs.”
Sorrells said they remain committed to the times, offering online ordering and curbside pick-up. The Sam’s Club app even provides a scan-and-go feature, where members can scan items as they add them to their cart and pay on their phone before exiting the store.
The Owensboro Sam’s Club is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
