Triple B Archery and Outdoors is officially open, and owner Brad Mills is excited to bring a new chapter to the sport locally. In addition to selling all manner of archery equipment, Triple B is a full-service repair shop.
Triple B is located at 1915 West 7th Street near the intersection with Crabtree Avenue (the former home of Sportsman Headquarters).
Mills said Triple B carries all the major bow lines, sight companies, and bow fishing equipment in addition to numerous arrows, LaCrosse boots, targets, releases, and more. He can also repair just about anything.
“It’s a full-service archery shop. I can fix anything but a broken heart,” he said jokingly. “We can fully work on any compound bow or crossbow. There’s nothing we can’t do.”
There is also an indoor range to test out bows, but Mills said it’s not for the public to come in and use for target practice.
Mills, an Owensboro Catholic High School alum, credits his deep-rooted passion for the outdoors to his father, who introduced him to hunting at a young age. By 12, he was already proficient in bow hunting, a skill that has shaped his life and career.
“I’ve hunted my whole life. It’s my favorite thing to do — being outside on my farm and fishing,” Mills said.
His mentor, Tracy Heath, operated Sportsman Headquarters for 35 years, creating a gathering place for hunting and fishing aficionados.
“It was like a barbershop; people would just come to hang out,” Mills said.
Mills said Heath not only provided a space for community, but also played a crucial role in his own professional growth, having worked closely together for nearly a decade.
“Without Tracy, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Mills said.”He taught me the ins and outs of the business, and from there, I developed my own techniques.”
Mills said he is particularly excited about the prospect of fostering a new generation of archers, citing the growing popularity of school archery programs in Owensboro as a key motivator for opening his shop.
“Archery is for everyone,” he said. “It’s not limited to a specific type of person. It’s enjoyable, accessible, and something you can do your whole life.”
His shop aims to be inclusive, providing gear and guidance for anyone interested in the sport, from children to seniors.
“I’m super excited to be able to offer this to the community,” he said. “I think it’s gonna be good for everybody. I’m really excited that I get to be the person who’s operating this and providing the services to everybody. I’d love for anybody to come in and talk archery.”
Triple B will be open Tuesdays-Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and closed Sundays and Mondays. To learn more about products or services, visit the Triple B Facebook page or call 270-478-1115.
