Lonnie Rager launched Rager Fencing several decades ago, eventually passing the torch to his son David. The business went dormant for a while until Lonnie’s grandson, Cody, revitalized it last year, expanding the services drastically.
Cody Rager operates the business with his wife, Serenity. In recent months, they’ve added painting services to their capabilities, naming it SHB Painting after their 3 sons, Silas, Holland, and Billy.
“We’ve been doing well with fencing, and this seemed like a natural progression,” Cody Rager said. “We have fencing and lawn care. We were mowing at an apartment complex early last year, and they asked us if we could paint. We had some painters on the team, so we pursued it.”
Rager Fencing specializes in all types of fences and decks, along with some interior work. SHB Painting offers fence and deck staining as well as interior and exterior painting.
“When we started, my wife and I were mowing 8 yards together,” he said. “We decided to combine lawn care with my experience in fencing.”
Rager was around fencing his entire life, following his grandfather and father around on several jobs. Lonnie passed away, but Rager said folks can still find his fences all over town.
“My grandfather did a lot of good work, and it means a lot that we can honor his name,” he said.
