The retail store pOpshelf — a division of Dollar General specializing in decor, seasonal items, and more — is celebrating its grand opening. The store is located in the Gateway Commons and offers an “affordable and fun” shopping experience, with most items priced at $5 or less.
The store is officially located at 2600 Calumet Trace, between Ross and Shoe Dept. Encore in the business strip that is anchored on the south end by Hobby Lobby.
“At each pOpshelf store, customers can expect a joyful and guilt-free shopping experience as they browse a selection of on-trend seasonal and home décor, health and beauty must-haves, home cleaning supplies, household and specialty items, arts and crafts, party planning and entertaining needs, toys, and much more,” pOpshelf’s PR team said previously.
The store’s website says, “With most items priced under $5, in addition to a complement of extreme value items priced above $5, we make it easy for our guests to stay within their budget while treating themselves at the same time.”
Dollar General introduced the pOpshelf concept in 2020. An October 2020 release from the company said, “Initial targeted customers are primarily female and are located in diverse suburban communities with a total household annual income ranging from $50,000 to $125,000.”
Today, pOpshelf operates more than 190 stores, largely across the Southeast and Midwest.
