Letter to the Editor

I want to thank Galil Golani, The American Peoples Collective, for explaining how successful Daviess County Citizens for Decency is in removing and setting limits on what many citizens believe is pornography acceptance in public places. I do share Galil’s concern, that everyone has a right to be heard and treated fairly. Every one of us — regardless of our backgrounds, race, gender — has felt rejection and being an outcast. The best way to build bridges is to find common ground that can lead to respect and kindness. These efforts I would support and look forward to working in this arena. But I do hold that pornography — in whatever form — should not be promoted as a good. There is a strong community interest to build strong families and marriages for the welfare of children, women, and the community at large.
