The Owensboro Symphony opens 2024 with a Disney-themed concert, including soundtracks of iconic films plus a chance to meet beloved characters.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on January 27 at the RiverPark Center. Tickets start at $45 and are available at 270-684-0661, OwensboroSymphony.org, or the RiverPark Center Box Office at 101 Daviess Street. Student tickets are $12.50 each.
Troy Quinn and the Owensboro Symphony will perform a musical tribute to composer Alan Menken, the mastermind behind the soundtracks of Disney films such as “The Little Mermaid,” “Pocahontas,” and “Aladdin.”
Vocalist Lauren Jelencovich will be a special guest, and the Owensboro Symphony Chorus will join the ensemble in the performance.
Concert attendees are encouraged to join Quinn in Cannon Hall from 6:15-6:40 p.m. for a pre-concert conversation about the performance. The “Behind the Music” conversation is designed to enhance the concert experience and provide insights into the music and music-makers performing.
Young patrons are encouraged to dress in the spirit of their favorite character.
“Whether they’re a princess or pirate, embrace their inner character, and create some magical memories,” a release from the Symphoney reads. “As patrons enter the lobby, they will be greeted by dazzling princesses and other beloved characters, ready to strike a pose and snap some photos with fans of all ages.”
The premier sponsor for “Magical Memories: A Tribute to Disney Legend Alan Menken” is Anne and Ronald Sheffer, and corporate partners include Four Seasons Heating and Cooling, and Riley and John Hess. The 2023-24 season is sponsored by Owensboro Health.
